Hardware Market is a place where customres and enthusiasts show no
loyalty to any company.
People buy the best hardware they money can get at the moment , as the
best hardware means best performance for some of us, while other are
impressed by the bundle and extras that come with the motherboard.
Still, there is one company that stands above others when it comes to
overclockers, gamers and enthusiasts, one company that aimed her
products to overclockers and enthusiasts , with a special line of products,
with almost unlimited bios options , voltage control, outstanding design for
it's motherboards, and a wide range of accessories , also the company
offers online support, bios updates and a dedicated website for customers
This company is DFI , with it's Lanparty series.
The Taiwanese company DFI , has been for years a second tier
motherboards manufacturer, offering cheap and reliable products , but DFI
has made a serious change and become a company that almost all
overclockers and enthusiasts are expecting her products.
The main reason for this change is Jacky Huang, the establisher of the
legendry LANParty line.
Prior to DFI, Jacky Huang worked for another important motherboards
manufacturer – ABIT, during the years 1997 to 2001, ABIT best years in
the market, and when he moved to DFI at 2001, he came up with the idea
of the LANParty Series.
Another man who made this move, from ABIT to DFI , is Oskar Wu, who
also holds an important role in the success of the LANParty series.
Oskar Wu is an important motherboard designer , responsible for many
successful motherboards, while working for ABIT as well as for DFI.
Oskar is responsible for the Technical Layout of DFI motherboards, as well
as releasing bios updates with specific adjustments for different hardware.
The LANParty series is also known for it's unique bundle, with many special
accessories inside, and of course UV Colors design to the motherboard,
with attractive and eye appealing colors , as the most known feature of
the LANParty series.
The first product of this line was the NF2 based motherboard, the DFI
LANParty NF2 Ultra B , that had special design for overclockers, and was
the undisputed overclcoking king back in the days of Athlon XP (Mobile Xp
and BH5 memory … ).
After the NF2 motherboard came the LANParty UT nF3 250GB, a socket
754 based motherboard, the motherboard that marked DFI 64 bit era, and
as always , was overclockers first choice.
The next motherboard that marked DFI as the no.1 company for
overclockers was the unforgotten LANParty NF4 , with it's different
versions – SLI-DR and Ultra-D.
The LANParty NF4 motherboards have dominated the market of
overclockers for 939 processors.
While showing dominant control with AMD based motherboards, DFI had a
big competition in Intel field, where ASUS is the most dominant name.
Still , DFI released some products based on Intel chipsets, like 915X and
925X, and then disappeared from this market for a long time.
DFI made a re-entrance to the Intel field with it's Core 2 Duo
motherboards, first the 975X , and while many expected to see a 965
based motherboards, it took a while for DFI to release such a
motherboard, that was a great motherboard for overclockers, but came at
a very problematic timing , when P35 motherboards were almost released.
You can also point out the NF680i based motherboard, but since this
chipset didn’t made a great success, so did the DFI motherboard.
Lanparty Motherboards - The NF4 SLi-DR and 925X
But it seems like DFI is going to change this situation, and with the
release of Intel P35 Chipset, DFI released a motherboard based on this
Chipset, a new member of the LANParty family, that DFI designed to rule
the overclcoking field for Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad processors.
Will this motherboard be the one that will take ASUS of its dominant position in Intel field ?
This review will try to answer this question !
